A name that is a promise.
Ampumuzza means “he has given me rest” — after Rehoboth in Genesis 26:22, where at last there was room. That verse named the farm, and it still sets the pace of it.
A real farm first
Ampumuzza is a working, family-run mixed farm: shade-grown coffee, cattle, goats, pigs, rabbits, bees, vegetables and old trees, all tended by hand and organically.
The refuge grew out of the farm, not the other way round. People kept telling us the place made them feel rested — so we made room for them to stay.
What we believe
Good food grows slowly. Rest is not laziness. And land, looked after honestly, looks after people in return. Everything we do — the stays, the gatherings, the products — comes from those three convictions.
The family behind the farm
Ampumuzza is run by George and Barbara Mbogga-Mukasa, married twenty-five years and parents of four daughters. Both are now retired from their careers — George from IT, Barbara from decades as a medical doctor and public-health specialist working with young people in Uganda — and give the farm their full time.
Out of that lifetime of work grew Eden Inspired Men, their mentorship for boys and young men. It is why the farm is as much about people as it is about produce — and why guests so often leave lighter than they came.
